Facts

Our leather dye 'SURFLEX' is a water-base polymer that puts a new finish on the surface of the leather. When properly applied, 'SURFLEX' will not crack, chip or peel. The pores of the leather remain open, allowing the leather to benefit from conditioning after re-dying. 'SURFLEX' is not a lacquer-base coverup that sits on top of the surface of the leather like a paint, closing off the pores and preventing further conditioning - leading to the detetrioration of the surface.

The Nature of Color

Color has a quality called metamerism, which means that the same color looks different in different light sources. A tan will appear different in daylight than it does in incandescent light or fluorescent light. The computer program at Color-Plus to match colors is calibrated to select the "least metameric" match - which only means the color will look good in all light sources. However, it will look the best in natural daylight, which is the light in which cars are judged at all major shows.

Color Matching - A Labor Intensive Job

All colors are made the day they are shipped. This includes the colors sold as "Stock Colors". These colors have been designated "Stock Colors" because they are frequently ordered, and the tolerances required for each shipment can be acheived more quickly than other color matches. The average color match requires a minimum of two hours of work. A 1" square sample swatch is required for a color match to be made. Carpet samples, cloth samples and metal samples are unacceptable, they will not work in the context of the program.
